Why stay at Inverness.
Inverness is considered to be the Capital of the Highlands, and as such it has a lot to offer as well as being a good base for exploring the Highlands. Situated at the northern end of the Great Glen attractions include nearby Culloden Battlefield, Cowdor Castle (known from Macbeth) and the Black Isle (a scenic peninsula).

What events may I see in Inverness.
There are several annual event that take place in Inverness to draw in the crowds.
The Inverness Highland games draws competitors from all over the world to compete in traditional highland sports such as caber tossing and hurling.
The Inverness Music Festival offers a wide range of music during the spring.
The Inverness Hogmanay Festival celebrates christmas and the new year with fun events around the castle and river ness.

Can I look around Inverness Castle.
Inverness Castle is located in the city centre and can be seen from most parts of the town. The Castles, Drum Tower displays an exhibition portraying the medieval castle. This is open daily during the summer and has a car park nearby.
Another place where the castle can be seen is on the back of a scottish £50 note.

River Ness

The River Ness flows through the heart of Inverness from Loch Ness. It is a good location for salmon fishing and seals are often seen swimming there.


Inverness Castle

Inverness Castle stands on a cliff overlooking the River Ness. It was built in 1836 on the site of an 11th Century structure.The grounds of the castle are open to the public.
